Old KZAP and KRFD Employee Here... |
---|
Hi, I hope it's not too late to add my memories in here. Andy Emert and I were very close. When he was working the night shift at KZAP, I was interning with the morning news guy. Andy would open the doors for me at 5AM and we would grunt at one another. That grunting became a friendship and, when Andy became PD at KRFD, he gave me my first paid radio gig. 7 to midnight, Monday through Saturday under the radio name of Jillian Harris. Since both he and I were "depth track" old 60's music heads, we often co-programmed the playlist for LSD - Lazy Saturday Dreaming, which of course was an homage to Bob Keller's "Psychedelic Sunday" from the old KZAP days. Andy was a wonderful, wonderful man, a great friend and an excellent boss. Even when he got pissed at you - and he did get hugely pissed at me once - he would stop, calm down and let you have your say. I will miss him forever. I am proud to still consider Martin Brown and Jim Naylor two very good friends of mine and I feel I have Andy to thank for that as well. May your star be shining bright in heaven, Andy and always know you'll always be loved down here. Rock on.
