BIOGRAPHY

 

The author, a former resident of Elk Valley, Tennessee and a graduate of Jellico High School, entered the United States Army in June 1963, only one week after graduation. He took his Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. From there, he received more advanced Infantry Training at Fort Ord, California. He was then assigned to his permanent duty station at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii around late October 1963, with the 25th Infantry Division. He was assigned to Company B, 1st BN 27 Infantry (Wolfhounds) from October 1963 to December 1966. Of course, this unit was deployed to Viet Nam (Cu Chi) in January 1966.
