From a Former Underground Radio Employee

Hello,

Was searching the net tonight and found your website. What an incredibly fond tribute you've made to one of the greatest times in my life...

My name is Pete Rizzo..you probably never heard of me, but I, along with Andy Emert, Jim Naylor and others was one of the founding members of KRFD. I was involved behind the scenes more so with promotions and advertising...and a donation of a few hundred LP's (mainly from the KZAP vault, which I took when I left there with Andy and Jim)

I am so proud to say that was a part of my life..From being there backstage with Andy meeting Jerry Garcia when we did the Live simulcast of The Grateful Dead from Cal Expo Ampitheatre (have a signed bumper sticker from Jerry) to the Blue Oyster Cult Concert that I was involved in promoting at the old Crestview Cinema that used to be on Manzanita & Winding Way in Sacramento to the Elvin Bishop & Little Charlie & The Night Cats concerts at the Sutter Street Saloon in Folsom...and the time Jim & I played a joke on Brad White when Jim called him from the production room phone to the DJ booth impersonating Peter Frampton (Brad really thought it was Frampton..until Frampton called later in his show)..and so many other memories...

Andy was an awesome guy to work with. He had a vision for 99.9 like Walt Disney had for amusement parks..it was bigger than life. He knew what people wanted to hear...Frankly Fridays (Zappa) The reggae show on Sunday Mornings with Al..and on and on.. And he involved everyone at KRFD in his vision..He was ahead of his time (unfortunately he predicated satellite radio in 1991) and he was a friend that I really miss.

Anyways, Thank You for posting your tribute site..it is one of many ways people can keep in their hearts one of the great rock n' roll stations created..

Sincerely,
Pete Rizzo
