This map shows my (former) favorite place to go cross-country skiing. This spot is at Serene Lakes, near Donner Pass. (It was called "Ice Lakes" before the real estate developers discovered the area.) Actually, it is still a nice place to go. You just can't go for free any more, since Royal Gorge resort acquired all the surrounding private land and local government banned on-street parking during winter.
